This area is popular for many water sporting activities and outdoor recreation in general and is served by tourism businesses and campgrounds. The lake is used as a storage reservoir for the Yakima Project, an irrigation project run by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. It is located in the Wenatchee National Forest. The rugged mountain terrain, surrounded by coniferous forest, creates magnificent scenic settings.
